Joshua L. Wathen has built a career around helping others achieve their goals. Joshua began his career as a financial professional in 2011, following a corporate role in the automotive industry. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he had a gift for helping individuals, families, and entrepreneurs prepare for retirement, business succession, and other major life transitions.
He takes particular pride in helping pre-retirees — especially those who have previously experienced only transactional relationships with financial professionals. “No matter where you are on your financial journey, you deserve the financial confidence that comes from a goal-driven financial roadmap,” Joshua says with enthusiasm. “I work just as hard for a client with two nickels as I do for a multi-millionaire.”
In 2014, Joshua made a pivotal career move by joining his former automotive industry colleague Gerardo “J.J.” Ramirez in the insurance and financial services industry. The shift proved to be transformational. Within just six months, Joshua's success in helping clients protect their income and build wealth earned him a promotion to partner.
Joshua accepted the promotion in 2016. As a partner, he recruited and developed a team of financial professionals who now carry on the work he loves and extend his impact throughout the community. “I’ve helped many college students and professionals looking for more fulfillment launch rewarding careers in this industry,” he reflected. “Many of those recruits continue to thrive in the business today.”
Currently, Joshua serves as a managing associate at Think Net Tailored Wealth Solutions (Think Net), an agency focused on income protection and wealth strategies. Affiliated with Guardian, a Fortune 300 company that has been helping customers protect their financial future since 1860, the agency serves clients across Texas.
As a founding member of the Think Net team, Joshua is helping J.J., who is head of agency, shape the firm’s vision while simultaneously guiding clients committed to financial well-being. “If you have the discipline, I can help you gain clarity, implement a process, and achieve your financial goals,” he said.
Joshua's servant leadership extends beyond his career. Since 2022, he and his wife, supported by their three sons, have run Under the Lights, a competitive flag football league that builds confidence and life skills in thousands of young athletes.
